Make Bank Account Nominations Easy for Your Family to Find
Accurate account records and nominations can make an administrative process clearer, but a nominee's role is not always the same as ownership.

Check nomination details for bank deposits and other eligible accounts, including spelling, relationship and contact information. Life events such as marriage, separation, a birth or a death may make an old nomination outdated. Ask the institution how to register or change it and obtain confirmation instead of assuming a submitted form was processed.
Keep a household account map
Maintain a secure list of institutions, account identifiers, locker details and relevant policy contacts, without writing passwords or PINs beside them. Tell a trusted family member where the list can be found. Clear records help survivors locate assets and notify providers, while reducing the risk that important accounts remain unknown or inaccessible.
Understand the limits of a nomination
A nominee may help an institution release or administer an account under applicable procedures, but nomination does not necessarily settle the ultimate legal ownership of the funds. Succession, joint-holder mandates and applicable personal laws can matter. For complex family situations, seek qualified legal advice and check the institution's current documentation requirements.
