Evaluate a Digital Loan Offer Before Sharing Your Data
A fast online application still deserves a slow review of the regulated lender, cost, permissions, repayment route and complaint process.

Find the bank or non-bank lender legally responsible for the loan and verify it through that institution's official website or customer channel. A lending service provider may facilitate an application but is not necessarily the lender. Do not rely only on a logo, app-store listing, social-media account or message from an agent.
Read the cost and consent details
Review the Key Fact Statement, annualised cost disclosures, repayment dates, late charges and contact information before accepting. Check what data the app requests and whether each permission is relevant to the service. Be cautious if the process asks for credentials, broad device access or payment to an unrelated personal account as a condition of release.
Keep a record and know the route
Save the agreement, disclosure, payment receipts and lender grievance contact. RBI's Digital Lending Directions, issued in 2025, set the regulatory framework for covered entities and their digital lending activity; requirements can be amended, so refer to the current text. If something appears coercive or fraudulent, preserve evidence and use the official lender and regulator complaint channels.
