Make Every Motorcycle Trip Safer with a Helmet Routine

A properly fitted, standards-compliant helmet is only one part of safer riding; speed, visibility and passenger protection matter too.

Choose and fasten a suitable helmet

Use a helmet that meets applicable Indian standards, fits securely and is intended for the rider or passenger's head size. Fasten the chin strap every time; an unfastened helmet can come off in a crash. Replace a helmet after a significant impact or when damaged, following the manufacturer's guidance.

Reduce risk before setting off

Check tyres, brakes, lights and mirrors, and make sure both rider and passenger have protective gear. Avoid riding when tired, impaired or distracted, and adjust speed to road and weather conditions. Keep a safe following distance and use signals early; a helmet cannot prevent a collision or protect against every injury.

Make compliance a shared habit

Agree that no trip starts until every occupant has a suitable fastened helmet, including a short ride to a nearby shop. Check current traffic laws and product standards through official sources because requirements can be amended. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways provides helmet information; local enforcement guidance should be consulted for specific rules.
